What is 5G?
When one is specifically discussing the telecommunications industry, 5G refers to the fifth generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks. In 5G the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells. All devices that are 5G compatible within a cell can connect to the network by radio waves through a local antenna in the cell. 5G thus enables higher download speeds and greater bandwidth. Even though current 4G cellphones will not be able to use the new networks for the aforementioned advantages, they will still be able to connect to them and get service. Availing such an edge in communications through the internet will require new 5G enabled wireless devices.
